TODAY AT THE ORNELIAN (9/24/25)

By

Hello Friend,

Thanks for being here!

I feel so paralyzed. I know what I have to do but I can’t seem to bring myself to do it.

I keep hearing be patient. Be patient. But how long must I wait to do the things that need to get done?

Until you allow yourself to have fun while doing them, I hear my inner voice whisper.

It’s true. Every activity was spent hunched over with shoulders in my ears forcing myself to strive for perfection. It was exhausting.

If I want this to be my career, I have to find a way to make it sustainable. Turns out, this is the way to do it:

By writing an update every night, I am reflecting on my day, which allows my soul to be expressed through social media posts.

I’ll explain more below through the example of each company.

Before we dive in, I wanted to share how I plan to distribute the content derived from this kind of post into all forms of social media.

  • YOUTUBE:
    • where it all goes and gets distributed
      • I take videos and voice notes as I go about my day naturally. They all go into DaVinci Resolve and from there I create different timelines for each kind of video (tiktok vs. youtube) and for different videos with the same video clips and different audio.
        • The plan is to organize and edit as I write this night update. I’m planning to set aside no more than three hours for this.
  • TIKTOK:
    • hooks to watch my YouTube episodes,
    • composited snaps,
    • or for going in depth on a instagram post (just me talking directly on the app)
  • SNAPCHAT:
    • short clips with text to put together later either as a carousel on instagram or a TikTok or both
    • but I’ll still post it on snapchat as a teaser to see the final product elsewhere
  • INSTAGRAM:
    • carousels only.
      • My pics or vids with text and blended in with memes sometimes to promote blog posts.
      • Stories for polls.
  • THREADS:
    • a question that relates to each post and makes community dive deeper into the topic through their own perspective
  • FACEBOOK:
    • spammed with everything.
    • Don’t forget to post about YouTube and podcast episodes.
  • LINKEDIN:
    • instagram posts filtered to demonstrate how you’re a thought leader (ILA Institute)
    • RESEARCH GATE: same
  • PINTEREST:
    • instagram posts filtered to demonstrate personal aesthetic
  • GOOD BOOKS: I’ve never used this platform so we’ll see
    • books I read and write
  • LETTERBOXd: I’ve never used this platform so we’ll see
    • films

As always, I hope that sharing my thoughts my own journey with social media may help you on yours.

Without further ado, here are the updates across all the branches of The Ornelian: Grounded Spirits, ILA Institute, PubLish, and Belasprii.

✨THE ORNELIAN

For the longest time, I was trying to escape my life.

I’d tell myself, once I get there, then I’ll be happy, then I’ll start living.

Sound familiar?

One day I was in the backyard and I noticed how beautiful the plumerias were and it dawned on me that if I wasn’t “stuck” in this life, I would have missed it.

From there, I started noticing more and more beauty in my everyday ugly, boring life.

Now the ugly things don’t seem so ugly anymore.

Through this process, I have learned a lot about relishing in small moments, make a dollar go a really long way, and how to keep dreaming big. I’ll unpack each of these in future posts but for now, here are some topics that I (not chatgpt) came up with. Feel free to use them in your private journaling but if you decide to post it please tag me @itslauraalyn 🙂

The post that came out recently was the Do’s and Don’ts of Museum Design where I share my insights and reflections on what made a good museum (and/or exhibit) after visiting over 30 museums in LA.

Stay tuned for my rubric to see how I plan on rating each museum to see which is the best museum in LA!

I also plan on creating the two equivalant posts for parks too.

While you wait for those, check out ILA Institute‘s second episode!

  • This course explores the future of education through an intuition-led lens, and in it, I share everything I learned while wandering through the libraries of Los Angeles.
  • 🎧📺 Tune in now — and let me know what resonates most with you.

🌊 PUBLISH

At first, I thought that PubLish needed that activism lens to separate itself but now I’m noticing that we don’t need to force art to change the world. It already naturally does.

We will be using the same categories as Belasprii:

  • Art
  • Live Performance
  • Books
  • Shows

Belasprii supports the production of art.
PubLish support the consumption of art.

It’s where finished work is shared with others, discussed, and experienced.

PubLish brings art into connection with people — through drinks, conversation/critique, and public sharing. PubLish also helps in overcoming your fear of being seen.

  • Pub 🍷 — Connection over Drinks
    • Consuming — noticing, observing, engaging with work.
  • L 📚 — Learning from Each Other
    • Critiquing — reflecting, analyzing, imagining improvements.
  • ish 🎭 — Sharing with the Public
    • Feeling Seen — sharing, dialoguing, feeling acknowledged, and forming relationships around the work.

Here is my list of prompts (created by AI after many prompts) that I aim to use as I continue developing this concept into a company:

  • What creative work did I engage with today, and what first caught my attention?
  • What emotion or thought did this work spark in me, and why?
  • What detail, idea, or moment stood out the most?
  • What did I appreciate, and what confused or challenged me?
  • How would I explain or describe this work to someone else?
  • Did I share my thoughts with someone today? How did it feel to be heard or connect?
  • What feedback, conversation, or interaction inspired me or shifted my perspective?
  • If I could change, reinterpret, or expand on this work, what would I do?
  • What insight, lesson, or inspiration will I carry forward from this experience?
  • Looking back, how did engaging with this work today help me feel connected, seen, or understood?

Remember to tag me if you use anything @publishla 🙂

Be the first to know when the application is open!

🎨 BELASPRII

This last week I was working on a dress! I sewed it from scratch for my cousin’s quinceanera. I’ll publish the video soon where I show how I made it step by step!

In the meantime, here is my list of prompts I will answer a few daily.

  • How hidden or overlooked stories are found
  • Tips on sourcing stories from everyday life or your own work
  • What did I create or work on today, and what drew me to it?
  • What part of the process felt exciting, effortless, or alive?
  • What challenges or frustrations did I encounter while creating?
  • What experiment, technique, or idea did I try today, even if it didn’t work?
  • What insight or discovery about my craft did I have today?
  • What would I change or approach differently next time?
  • How did I push boundaries or step out of my comfort zone?
  • What small victory or progress did I notice in my work today?
  • How did the act of creating make me feel — physically, mentally, or emotionally?
  • Looking back, what patterns, lessons, or growth do I notice in my process this week/month?
  • Flash read snippets
    • Bela’s stories
  • Pick one book to edit each week
    • Book of the Week Series
  • Art inspirations (quotes over me painting)
    • Zoom in on the one square that you’re going to publish
    • Quotes are just audios that you come across on socials. Just add captions. Use computer to audio dictate and transcribe words.
  • Live performance Inspo
    • Games/Manifestation
      • What shoes would you wear for your first show?
      • Would you do a storyline to accompany?
    • Write a list of all the ones you’ve seen
  • Creation/Journal prompts based on camera reel museum art
    • For IMG_8760, reflect on one body part and observe everyone’s (ie. If you pick eyebrows, notice everyone’s eyebrows. people become artists when they notice the world differently. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, artists use their souls to see whereas everyone else uses their mind.)
  • Podcast promo
    • If someone is telling a good story, snip it.

Remember to tag me if you use anything @belasprii 🙂

  • For The Circle, the first SPARK episode is out now!
    • In it, you’ll be guided through:
      • an energy ritual to summon your creative flame
      • a prompt that dares to undo your fear
      • a vision that might change how you see your work
…but you’ll have to enter to know.
  • You can find all the links for the episode, all the links mentioned in the episode, and many bonuses here!
  • Next week, we will do a deep dive on how to bring your work into the light with GLOW!
  • Sign up now to receive it in your inbox when it comes out!
