Thanks for being here!

As you may or may not know, I am on a mission to integrate work and life that there will be no such thing as balance for they will be one in the same.

Part of my job is keeping you updated on all the happenings around The Ornelian so you have all our resources and opportunities at your fingertips.

Part of being human is growing and then reflecting on that growth (figure out what flows vs. what’s forced).

These posts are a little of both. It is a behind the scenes look of everything that happens in and around the business.

Without further ado, here are the updates across all the branches of The Ornelian: Grounded Spirits, ILA Institute, PubLish, and Belasprii.

✨THE ORNELIAN

We have official The Ornelian stickers and business cards! If you live around LA and find one, please tag @theornelian on your story.

Luxury is going to dinner on the pier, ordering without holding back, followed by delicious food and titivating conversation.

Luxury is not shrinking, holding up your defenses, and waiting for the next blow.

When something happens and the thought “if I don’t fit in here, then I don’t fit in anywhere” looms around, what do you do?

When we say that The Ornelian makes luxury human, we mean we offer all the tips and tools (mentioned below) to ensure that you are spending most (if not all) of your time doing things you actually love and care about.

At the end of the day that is what matters most.

🌀 ILA INSTITUTE

ILA Institute has many updates!

1. I have completely re-designed the ILA Institute website!
2. The new season of ILA Radio begins tomorrow!
3. I have announced that a course that intimately connects you to all 16 ways of knowing is coming soon!
4. I have started a sublime account. In case you haven’t heard of sublime, it is a platform that is a cross between pinterest and tumblr with a dash of academia. I have really enjoyed it so far. I have been transferring all my zotero (an academic platform) documentation. Sublime even exports your “collections” (think pinterest boards) into .csv files! Here’s a link if you would like to join too:

5. Fall Curriculum Updates:
   • Multilingualism
     • I’ve decided to master a single sentence that I can confidently use to start conversations with native speakers, giving my learning focus instead of trying to absorb an entire language at once. Please keep in mind that I am learning each language for different reasons so different things are needed to know how to say.
       • French: Je trouve fascinant comment la philosophie peut changer notre regard sur le monde.
         • Anglais: I find it fascinating how philosophy can change the way we see the world.
         • Zhuh troov fah-see-nahn koh-ma(n) la fee-lo-so-fee puh shah(n)-zhay noh-tr ruh-gar soor luh mohnd.
       • Italian: Si sente la passione in quello che fate.
         • Inglese: You can feel the passion in what you do.

       • Japanese: 私は自分のすべての側面を尊重します。
         • 英語 (eigo): I honor all parts of who I am.

         • Pelekane: Please share your wisdom with me.

   • Ways of Knowing:
     • I originally had imagination with Aquarius, but it has now moved to Libra. Libra had desire, which is now with Leo. Leo had ego, which is now synonymous with the first quadrant. Aquarius now holds memory—though not to be confused with Cancer’s memory. Cancer is personal memory; Aquarius is collective memory.

🌊 PUBLISH

Application is now open!

Lately, I’ve been noticing art in common places. My go-to Chinese food place has a gorgeous piece hanging above the cash register that I had never noticed before. Today, I went to get a massage. All the artwork was in black-and-white and consisted of close-up photographs of flowers.

🌄 GROUNDED SPIRITS

The Taurus Full Moon reaches its height at 5:10AM on Wednesday, November 5th but you can still feel and work with its energy a few days before and after the height. At the time of this writing (11/3 7:43PM), the moon was 97% full but I’ve been feeling it’s energy since the weekend.

Since Taurus deals with stability and luxury, this full moon will illuminate your insecurities so that you can face them head first like a bull. If you are successful and FACE your fears, you will experience a new level of luxury.

Grounded Spirits Podcast is still on hiatus. During this hiatus, I have learned that I was adding my personal “what I do in a day” segments to Grounded Spirits episodes because I was shy (aka scared of being seen). They belong on my personal channel @itslauraalyn.

Now we can go back to our regular scheduled programming where I read text and share my thoughts on it.

Whereas before our texts only needed to be spiritual, we’re now focusing on works that teach us how to personally connect with the spiritual world—particularly through nature.

Our first text will be Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane.

If you’ve been keeping up with the show, you’ll know that I am completely enthralled with the LA River. I do believe that she is alive. I am so interested to hear Macfarlane’s take on the aliveness of rivers as he examines an Ecuadorian, a Canadian, and an Indian River.

🦋 Belasprii’s Butterflies 🦋 is now free for all! Sign up now before you have to apply to get in.

I’m working on uploading all my art to the website. Today I scanned it all on xerox machines (the huge copy machines in offices/schools) that were given to me for free. The next step is to clean up the images.
