Laura Alyn’s Artist Statement
Anybody can learn to paint. They can learn the techniques and learn to paint anything. What is difficult is making that painting your own and make it stand out. The trouble is that for centuries those that stand out get squashed down. My art not only comes from deep within, it evokes others to do the same. My art displays the soul in ways that cannot be expressed through words.
Some ways to learn about the self is to connect with nature, journal, and allow your soul to connect with stories. My art hits on these three components. My paintings often incorporate objects found in nature. My art is found on the cover of my completely original guided journals, which allow others to learn about the stories of their community and the stories that they tell themselves. My books share the stories of others and my own. My art is a blend of paint, oil-crayon, and digital art. It creates a bridge between the inner and outer worlds.
