HOW TO FLOW AND GROW THROUGH LIFE’S DETOURS

157. How to Flow and Grow Through Life’s Detours

What if the detour was the destination all along?

This week in L.A. unfolded nothing like I planned and that turned out to be the gift.

From surprise gifts to surprise visitors to river revelations, birthday parties, and a powerful performance at a Hawaiian festival, each day showed me something about surrender, synchronicity, and trust.

In this episode, I share a week of intuitive detours — the kind that reveal who you’re becoming when you stop clinging to who you thought you had to be.

You’ll hear about:
✨ following signs and symbols
🌊 letting nature guide your healing
🎉 embracing joy, connection, and softness
🛶 reimagining your city, your path, your pace

If you’ve ever felt frustrated when life doesn’t go your way, this one’s for you.

The flow is the way.

THE BREAKDOWN OF MY WEEK

WEDNESDAY—JULY 16TH

  • My first detour of the week but it was a happy surprise
  • Learn about how the universe (or your intuition) leads you to nice surprises

THURSDAY—JULY 17TH

  • Happy 22nd birthday to my little sister! 🥳
  • My day started with finding chickens in my front yard! I have no idea where they came from or where they went, but they come every morning around 7am and by 9am they are no where to be found. I guess this could be considered another gift from God.
  • I made a detour and found a park that leads directly to the LA River!
    • I talk about drugs
      • Caffeine vs Cannabis
        • I don’t like caffeine at all.
    • I offer my ideas
      • about how to incorporate the LA River back into the every day life of LAers
      • on how to clean up the LA River and make it more useful and welcoming for LAers to enjoy it more
      • on how to unite the people of LA
    • I reveal the name that she (the LA River) gave me!
Imagine taking an hour boat drive down the river instead of sitting in traffic for 3 hours!
  • I tried going to THREE different libraries with no luck until I found the perfect library I was meant to find which reminded me of this tiktok that I had just watched Wednesday night!

FRIDAY—JULY 18TH

  • I stumbled upon another new library when my plans didn’t work out.
  • I found an art piece here that represents Grounded Spirits perfectly!
  • I demonstrate how I get my reading in without trying.
  • I go to my nephew’s birthday party without my husband and discuss how important growth is for him and for me.

SATURDAY—JULY 19TH

  • I tried going to PRS again but missed it because of traffic.
    • Ended up being a blessing in disguise
  • I went to my cousin’s birthday party!
    • I had such a wonderful time. I truly felt like I belonged with her and her friends. We had a great time being super girly, which I think is a vital part of being a grounded spirit. We need to be able to balance all sides of ourselves.

SUNDAY—JULY 20TH

MONDAY—JULY 21ST

  • I discuss some more mishaps and how I dealt with them differently this time around.
  • I went on a mini nature walk in Arcadia and saw many little creatures.
  • I also discuss the reason why I cut my hair.
  • I gave a small behind-the-scenes of where and how I record.

TUESDAY—JULY 22ND

  • I found another little critter at my favorite park where I can have a picnic with Ixta.
  • BONUS: the lessons are still hitting hard today, Wednesday, July 23rd. I finished editing this episode last night. I tried uploading it then via hotspot. When I got home, I tried there. Today, I went to THREE different libraries and a Starbucks trying to upload it. I’ve probably been here an hour and it’s only at 27%…
    • Today on ILA Radio, I had a conversation with Alexandra Beller (her episode will come out in about a month). She didn’t know anything about Grounded Spirits or any of the lessons I was learning this week—so completely unrelated—she said that we need to slow down and feel more. I think that’s the main lesson here.
      • When things seem not to work out, it just may be that they’re not ready and we have to be okay going at their pace. That’s what full surrender and flow mean—going at the pace of the universe—the pace that God has set out for us AND BEING OKAY WITH THAT.
  • It’s at 37% now. But look, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to write all of this if it was quick. In my book, Monterai, which is now discontinued for various reasons, I talk about feeling like i was drowning in a river and I kept hearing surrender, surrender, I think I finally now feel secure enough in myself to fully surrender.
    • No matter what happens in the future, I know that I’ll be able to get through it because I have me and I will always attract people who care for me.
    • Funny enough, the song Tolerate It by Taylor Swift came on and it made me realize that we all have so much love to give but no one who wants it, only people who tolerate it.
      • But this is only because we rarely offer our love authentically, we make people work for it to make sure that they deserve our love or to prove that we’ll be safe.
        • But what if, if we think we’re safe, then we will be?
  • 52% now. It is the new moon today. It’s in LEO, which means that now is the time to be BRAVE!
    • Now is the time to SHINE authentically!
    • Now is the time to be the FLAME to destroy all the masks, baggage, gunk that we no longer need.
    • Now is the time to CREATE the reality that we’ve all been wanting.
  • 66% now. I started Grounded Spirits talking into my phone in a corner of my apartment in Pomona without my name or my face associated.
    • Lately, I’ve been wanting to integrate all aspects of myself into every part of my life.
      • i.e. My body knows hula but now I want my mind and soul and spirit to know it too.
      • Same for here on Grounded Spirits: my soul and mind know it well. It was the first venture that they did together. Now I want my body and spirit to know it.
      • Before I was shy about who I am as a dreamer and a gardener but here I’ve created a space where I can be myself and now it’s on YouTube!!! The version of myself that founded GS would have died at the thought of putting myself on YouTube every week!
        • And that’s why she did die.
        • Every part of ourselves that shed has to die so we can be here living our dreams.
        • But that doesn’t mean that we’re not eternally grateful for these past versions that couldn’t be here but that we couldn’t be ourselves without.
  • 84%. I think under this Leo New Moon and being a Leo Sun, Mercury, Chiron, and descendant, I think I’m finally ready to allow these inner parts of myself to step into the spotlight. I think I’m ready to own that I want Grounded Spirits to blow up. I want to be a real influencer—no matter how cringe it is to even say/write.
    • But isn’t that the whole point? How can I say that GS is here to help people to self-actualize when I am still shy about the stuff I talk about on here?
    • This Leo Moon (who’s height will be tomorrow at 12:22PM PST) is allowing me to shine a light on my inner world that is really rich but saying that is cringe to me too.
      • Why is it bad to say that I have all the answers to the questions you may have inside of me?
  • 97%. So every once in a while, I like to listen to every song that I have in my phone in alphabetical order to ensure that every song on my phone is one that I truly love (if I think it’s just okay—it gets deleted).
    • Tell me why, I have three songs called Too Much if that’s not Leo Chrion, idk what is haha.
      • Dove Cameron
      • Drake
      • girl in red
    • My point is that even celebrities think they’re too much and want people to keep up with them, and when they can’t, like in Drake’s situation, it all becomes too much.
  • 100%. Last thoughts: It’s okay to think you’re amazing. It’s okay to think you’re a genius. It’s okay to be too much. It’s okay to have big dreams. It’s okay. Everything is okay.

I didn’t get a chance to talk about these this week but I will next week so in case you want to follow along then, get them here! (Click on the book that interests you)
